Feeding the animals and ensuring that they are properly looked after costs over over £150,000 a year, of which only 60% comes from visitor admissions. We are heavily dependent on the generosity of you the public for your donations, sponsorship and adoption of our residents, and for your participation in our Trust membership scheme.

We have a number of other ways that you, your school, work place or family can help.

Membership  |  Adoption  |  Sponsorship  |  Volunteer  |  Corporate opportunities  |  Legacies  |  Donate

We also have a dedicated team of volunteers and students helping with all daily operations so getting involved  doesn't have to mean making a financial commitment.

Adoption

get_involved_adopt.jpg

You can adopt any of the animals here at the Trust for an annual fee, which not only goes towards the upkeep of that animal but also helps us to continue supporting conservation projects in the wild for that species. For example, adopting one our lemurs will also help fund our work in Madagascar.

Adopters receive an annual membership, allowing free entry to the Zoo for a year, so you can visit your chosen animal as often as you like. The adoption pack also includes a fact sheet, photograph, certificate and souvenir.

Find your favourite animal on our website and adopt it now on-line for you or someone special.

Sponsorship

Sponsoring one of our animals is a great way to contribute to the care of that animal here at the Trust. All sponsorships cost £15 per year and include a downloadable certificate, e-news and your name on our sponsor's board.

You can find your favourite animal on this website and sponsor it for yourself or as a gift today.

Volunteer

With only 4 paid members of staff, the work of the Trust relies on our dedicated team of over 40 volunteers. Many have been with us for many years and have a varied number of roles, from manning the front desk and maintaining our gardens to animal care and even the building of this website!

Drawing on the varied experiences of our wonderful team, we are able to achieve great things here at Shaldon, so if you would like to be part of our friendly and diverse team, please fill in the application form or call us at the Trust for more information.

Corporate opportunities

At Shaldon Wildlife Trust, we work hard to build relationships within our community and provide a centre for learning, well-being and recreation.

Whatever the size of your business, we can provide unique corporate opportunities. And when you support us your business or brand will gain exposure to over 20 thousand visitors each year and immediately benefit from being linked to a good cause. You’ll also be helping to save a species and protect threatened habitats.

Corporate membership

Our corporate membership scheme can help:

• engage with a local charity

• boost marketing and PR activity

• provide additional benefits for staff

Please contact the Trust for more information on this scheme.

Corporate sponsorship

With Corporate Social Responsibility now an important part of business, we can help you achieve your environmental and community commitments. At the same time, you could be be helping one of our international field conservation projects, sponsor a new enclosure or exhibit at the Trust, or even provide resources such as plants, building materials and fruits and vegetables.

Corporate volunteering

Team-building activities and corporate volunteering is popular with companies wanting to give something back to the community whilst creating a healthy team atmosphere. Many of our enclosures benefit from days such as these where teams can spend the day re-building climbing frames for the monkeys or planting the lemur exhibits.

Legacies and in memory

Many of the new developments here at the Trust have been made possible by the generosity of people who have remembered us in their wills or in memory of a loved one who had a passion for conservation and the work of the Trust.

By leaving a gift in your will to Shaldon Wildlife Trust, you will not only be supporting our continuing conservation and education work but possibly help prevent the extinction of one of the endangered species we work with in the wild.

A gift of any size could make a huge difference to Shaldon Wildlife Trust enabling us to continue to inspire our visitors, save species and send out our vital conservation message.
